Mount Fortress Garden

English: Mount Fortress Garden, Portuguese: Jardim da Fortaleza do Monte, Traditional: 炮台花園, Simplified: 炮台花园

The Mount Fortress Garden (Jardim do Monte do Forte) is a small scenic garden located by the historic Mount Fortress.

This is one of the best places in Macau where visitors can go for spectacular views.

From the garden, you can see panoramic views throughout the city, including the old city district, the Guia Lighthouse, casinos, and more.

The grassy areas are smaller than other parks around the city, though it’s highly recommended for the views and appreciating the ancient trees. It provides tourists with a great place to relax for a few minutes after exploring the fort and ruins around the area.

The best time to visit the Mount Fortress Garden is late afternoon when you can anticipate the lovely sunsets from here. It can get rather hot during the daytime, so be prepared to bring your own hydration and snacks.

This spot is one of the oldest in Macau since the Mount Fortress was built from 1617 through 1626 by the Jesuits to protect the St Paul’s Cathedral clergy from a siege or pirates. It’s one of the oldest Western forts in China and is among the many world heritage sites.

This tourist attraction is in Santo Antonio in Macau, surrounded by many other wonderful sights to discover. One of these is the Ruins of St. Paul’s, where you can see 17th-century ruins of an old Catholic Church called the Church of Mater Dei. It was built in 1602, though it was destroyed due to a fire. The facade is one of the most photographed in the country.

Other attractions nearby include the Macau Cathedral and the St Lazarus Church.

The Jardim do Monte do Forte and its historic attractions make for a wonderful day trip.
