Macau Events

Macau events showcase a unique culture of festivals, including traditional Chinese celebrations, international sporting events and Western festivals.

Aside from that, numerous international events take place here each year, so there’s always something exciting to look forward to.

Macau Events 2024/2025 Dates, Current Cultural & Sporting Calendar

Chinese New Year celebrations are always a highly anticipated event by locals and travellers alike. Spending it here is a fantastic, fun-filled way to ring in the Chinese New Year, the most important holiday for the locals.

It spans ten days with numerous events in every one of them, and you get to see the streets come alive with a lion and dragon dance, plus flowers and lanterns all over.

Another is the Mid-Autumn Festival, a famous festivity in Chinese culture widely celebrated in Macau. It’s a time for family reunions, and the entire country comes alive with vibrant lanterns during the 8th month of the lunar calendar. Sample some mooncakes, and picnics, and enjoy fruits in season during this time.

Macau events include the Macao Lotus Flower Festival, which occurs every summer. This is a truly splendid time to witness various types of lotuses, and each year a specific species is highlighted during the event. Check out the Taipa Houses Museum and the Lou Lim Ieoc Garden to see their lotus collection. There are also many more you can see in the big parks of town.

The Macao Light Festival happens every December, making the holidays extra special with vibrant light structures found all over the city, especially in heritage sites. State-of-the-art technology is used to showcase these incredible lights.

Other popular festivities include the City Fringe Festival, Macau Arts Festival, A-Ma Festival, Macao International Dragon Boat Races, and more.

Check out the calendar of Macau events to catch one or more of these during your visit.
