Museum of Taipa and Coloane History, Hours, Photos, Macau
There are two floors of exhibits to learn from, including various relics, findings, archaeological excavations, and much more. Visitors can learn much about Macau’s early inhabitants and what life was like here during its old days.
The Museum of Taipa and Coloane History also includes exhibits that showcase these cities’ economic and political development through the years, the role of agriculture, unique handicrafts, and much more. The influence of the Portuguese colonial powers is also told through the exhibits. It is particularly interesting how Taipa and Coloane were once separate islands, though today, they are already linked through the Cotai Strip.
The museum is open daily except Mondays, from 10am to 6pm. Admission is free of charge, so be sure that you include this historical landmark in your Macau itinerary.
As you only need less than an hour to appreciate all the displays, why not check out the other nearby sites and attractions? Stroll around Camoes Square or head to the Taipa Houses Museum for another look into local history. See what the city looks like from high above when you visit the Taipa Grande Viewing Platform. All these and more make it worth spending the day in this part of the country.
