Ponte e Horta Square, Fountain, Playground, Exercise, Macau

The square was named after the Portuguese Jose Maria da Ponte e Horta, who was a former governor of Macau from 1866 to 1868. In addition, he was also a colonial administrator and a soldier for the Portuguese empire. Because of his contributions to the government, there are several landmarks around the city that have been named after him, with this square being one of them.

The Ponte e Horta Square is a simple square with a fountain pool. Part of its design includes landscaping and the inclusion of some amenities, including a playground for children and park benches where visitors are welcome to lie down. It’s usually dressed up during festivals and holiday seasons.

What has drawn more visitors to the area over recent years was the addition of interesting and colourful graffiti art that was painted directly on the wall and nearby streets. Additionally, this is a place of interest for tourists who want to explore the historical area while enjoying accommodation nearby since many renowned properties are based here.

Whether you need to catch your breath after sightseeing, want to shop nearby, or simply visit a historical landmark, be sure not to miss out on this plaza. Numerous cafes and restaurants within walking distance offer a variety of food for hungry travellers, including authentic Chinese and Western favourites, perfect for satisfying your hunger after walking.

The Ponte e Horta Square is among Macau’s historical landmarks worth visiting.
