The Amizade Bridge (Ponte De Amizade), also known as the Friendship Bridge, is an impressive bridge connecting Taipa Island to the Macau Peninsula.
This two-way, four-lane bridge opened in 1994 to help decongest the Macau-Taipa Bridge and is 4.7 kilometres long.

The Amizade Bridge is one of three major bridges linking Taipa to the Macau Peninsula, the other two being the Governador Nobre de Carvalho Bridge and the Sai Van Bridge. The Governador Nobre de Carvalho Bridge is a two-lane, two-way bridge, and it was also the first bridge to be built in the country, hence its nickname among locals as “old bridge”. Additionally, this is the only bridge that allows pedestrians, making it a popular destination for runners and joggers looking for a scenic challenge. It also only allows public transportation vehicles, including buses and taxis, and private vehicles are not allowed on it.
Meanwhile, the Sai Van Bridge crosses the Praia Grande Bay. It opened in 2004 and is 2.2 kilometres long, designed with a double-deck style. The enclosed lower deck is intended to be used as a backup in case harsh typhoons strike the other two bridges. Sai Van Bridge is the westernmost of these three bridges and has a cable-strayed design that makes getting around even more convenient.
