After visiting the Homage to the Macanese Diaspora Monument, you can walk or commute to many other nearby attractions. One of these is the Macao Contemporary Art Centre- Navy Yard No. 1. Previously known as the D. Carlos I dock mechanical room, it was once used as a shelter for ships that were being reconditioned or built. It was converted into an amazing art gallery that displays works from artists all over the region. Occasionally, performance art shows also take place here. It has now become one of the country’s premier performance and art venues.
The A-Ma Temple is also nearby. This is the oldest temple in Macau, constructed in 1488 to pay tribute to the sea goddess who is believed to care for sailors and fishermen. The temple has six wings to explore, and its ancient design is breathtaking to witness. There are majestic lion sculptures that guard the entrance. It will take around half an hour to visit the entire temple, but you can also enjoy the tranquil grounds during this time.
