Covering around 500 square meters, there is ample space for events, and certain areas can also be hired for research, private functions, and educational projects. The main exhibit area is located in the front half of the building, and the back half is commonly used for lectures, discussions, and other exhibits.
The Tap Seac Gallery building is of incredible architectural value, boasting a European flair unique to Macau’s early days. Some notable design features include the distinct Portuguese facade, Moorish arched doors, and red brick walls. The top frontispiece pediments and cornices on its facade add to its neo-classical influences, typical of the residences that the affluent families of Macau lived in. Walking around the building will not cease to impress with how well the features have been preserved through the decades.
Afterwards, visitors can easily access other notable heritage sites. The Macao Central Library is nearby, home to almost 100,000 volumes plus microfilms, magazines, and newspapers that any history buff will appreciate. The bright main entrance and facade boast a blend of old and new, though modern amenities make it comfortable for visitors as they soak up history and knowledge.
