Areia Preta Urban Park

English: Areia Preta Urban Park, Portuguese: Parque Urbano Da Areia Preta, Traditional: 黑沙環公園

The Areia Preta Urban Park is a small, relaxing park in Macau.

Most frequented by visitors who pass through the nearby Avenida Leste do Hipodromo and the Avenida de Maio, this space provides kids and adults with a scenic resting spot.

The park is closed off by walls and fences, though some entrances are nearby. A few facilities were added to attract children, such as a library and mini-soccer field. In the northeastern section of the park, a footbridge takes you to another picturesque destination, the Areia Preta Seaside Park. If you feel like getting away, these lovely spaces make for a refreshing change from the busy casino strip.

Around the Areia Preta Urban Park, there are other attractions that kids will enjoy. The nearby Areia Preta Triangular Garden has a small but scenic open space and a pavilion in the centre. Fitness equipment is commonly used by senior citizens who exercise early in the mornings or the late afternoons. Since it’s in a residential neighbourhood, the park is usually a flurry of wholesome activity, especially among chess players, older kids, and elderly residents.

Visitors can also explore the Mong Ha Hill Municipal Park, which is just a few minutes away. Though it was recently converted into a park, you can check out the historic Mong Ha Fort by accessing a trail from here. Some notable highlights in this destination include the Roman fountain and a viewpoint that showcases impressive city views. There is also a kids’ playground and a natural rock cave, which is worth exploring. Other nearby attractions include the Lin Fung Temple and the Kun Iam Ancient Temple.

The Areia Preta Urban Park and its nearby landmarks have something to offer visitors of all ages.
