The Centro Comercial Teatro Capitol is a historic commercial centre in Macau.

It opened in the middle of the 20^th century and was one of the first cinemas to open in the country.

Aside from the cinemas, some shops and restaurants surrounded the cinema. Eventually, the cinemas were shut down, though some shops stayed open. The entire building was abandoned for many decades, though the ground floor retailers were operating. By 2019, the theatre was finally reopened after refurbishing, with many modern features added to cater to discerning moviegoers. It’s also the only cinema on the Macau heritage list, making it a noteworthy establishment for cinephiles and history enthusiasts to visit.

Today, the Centro Comercial Teatro Capitol is a beautiful modern shopping complex and cinema. Four levels have been converted into a low-end mixed-use commercial centre, where visitors can seek out unique finds, including clothes, souvenirs, and goods. The elegant arched entrance lends a classic look, and it’s now one more addition to the country’s heritage buildings that visitors can explore.

The centre is close to many other tourist attractions, such as the Senado Square, one of the biggest public squares in Macau, home to several incredibly elegant European-style buildings. There are a variety of shops and cafes around the area for tourists to explore, shop, and dine.

The area is near some of the top casinos in town, such as Wynn Macau, Hotel Lisboa, MGM Macau, and many others. There are several excellent accommodation options, too, including Ascott Macau, Wynn Macau, Hotel Beverly Plaza, Grand Lisboa, and the Mandarin Oriental.
