When it was built, it was also the very first green park in the country; its design combines a fusion of Western and Chinese landscaping. One of the notable features is the wave-like lawn structures, which were created to cater to the undulating terrain.
The Dr. Sun Yat Sen Municipal Park is named after a renowned Chinese physician, statesman, and political philosopher who was also the Republic of China’s provisional first president. A bronze statue of him is placed at the entrance of the park as well.
The space has several facilities for all ages spread across 570,000 square meters. These include a tennis court, football field, barbecue area, swimming pool, kids’ playground, library, and outdoor fitness equipment for adults. There are Chinese-style structures around, too, including a pavilion, artificial lake, and zigzag bridge, while the sports facilities are designed using Western style.
The library is the latest addition to the park; it was established in 1996 thanks to the contributor, Huang Yingjun, who was residing in Peru. It has a collection of thousands of books; the second floor is a designated reading space for adults, while the ground floor is for children.
With all these excellent amenities, the Dr. Sun Yat Sen Municipal Park is a must-visit.
