The Governador Nobre De Carvalho Bridge is a two-way bridge that connects the Macau Peninsula to Taipa Island.
Known to locals as Old Bridge, it was the first bridge to be built to connect the mainland with Taipa.

The bridge was built in 1970 and designed by Edgar Cardoso. It opened to the public in 1974. One can see the raised middle section of the bridge, which rises 35 meters above sea level, while the passage is 73 meters wide. From afar, it looks like a flat triangle.
Today, the Governador Nobre De Carvalho Bridge has become a vital point of travel for public transport services, including buses and taxis. Private cars are not allowed on this bridge, though joggers and runners are allowed to cross it. Travellers and locals alike often use this bridge to get to each side of Macau, though if you feel like exercising while checking out the scenery, you can also walk it.
There are several tourist attractions on each side of the bridge. You can access popular casinos on the mainland, including MGM Macau, Grand Lisboa, and others. Aside from that, you’re also close to many famous tourist attractions, including the Nam Van Lake, Macau Tower Convention and Entertainment Centre, A-Ma Temple, and others. Meanwhile, on the Taipa side, the bridge end is close to Taipa Central Park, Flower City Park, Galaxy Resort and Casino, The Venetian Macao, and many more.
