Guia Circuit

The Guia Circuit is the location for the world-famous Macau Grand Prix and Guia Race of Macau events.

This circuit is in the country’s southwestern part and has become a popular tourist attraction.

The street has many of the usual characteristics of any street circuit, such as bumps, a narrow shape, and limited chances for overtaking. Two unusual features are not found in other racing circuits, which are the altitude changes – more than 30 meters between the lowest and highest parts of the circuit, as well as a very long main straight area that allows drivers to reach speeds of 260km per hour when driving F3 cars. Because of this, this street circuit is acknowledged as one of the most challenging in the world.

The Guia Circuit’s unique features make it suitable only for certain cars with what it takes to drive competitively at high speeds while overcoming twisted corners, hills, and long straights. Its history dates back to 1954 when it was once a route used for treasure hunting. However, its potential for racing was recognised, and by 1967, motorcycle races were introduced. Since then, it has become a top venue for car and motorcycle racing in Macau. Through the decades, the layout has not changed since its very first race.

The track’s narrowest area, the Melco Hairpin, is only 7 meters wide, with Armco barriers providing secure boundaries throughout the circuit. There are two large grandstands for spectators; one is located at the pit straight, while the other is on Lisboa Bend. The circuit also has convenient amenities for the comfort of spectators during a race.
