Kun Iam Statue

English: Kun Iam Statue, Portuguese: Estátua Da Deusa Kun Iam

The Kun Iam Statue is an iconic landmark in Macau.

It is situated right by the ecumenical centre in the Outer Harbour, a valuable source of information on Eastern religions and schools of thought, primarily Buddhism, Confucianism, and Taoism.

Kun Iam Statue, Size, Height, Waterfront Leisure Area, Macau

The statue is a majestic 20 meters in height, made entirely out of bronze. It can be seen from miles away as it stands in isolation yet evokes an ethereal feel. The base of the statue is a 7-meter-high lotus flower.

This seaside bronze statue symbolises the Goddess of Mercy, also known as the Goddess Guan Yin, a highly revered deity by fishermen as they believe she protects them from storms and danger while at sea.

While visiting the Kun Iam statue, explore the ecumenical centre. You will find a lot of interesting and valuable information about Eastern religions. It has been around since 1999, as it was established to promote world peace and mutual understanding among all cultures through the knowledge of Buddhism, Confucianism, and Taoism.

It has several facilities within the centre which play an important role in numerous religious and cultural events such as exhibits, film screenings, and more. Visitors can also use the many teaching materials inside to learn more.

The nearby waterfront park is a beautiful place to relax while you are in the area. The park is expansive, with a total area of 15,000 square meters. This is highly recommended, especially if you have children, as they will enjoy the playground for hours. It is also among the newest parks in Macau, designed with world-class features that everyone can enjoy.
