Today, they are a premier library and educational resource, also providing many services, including library card application, book lending, access to periodicals and newspapers, access to the Official Gazette of the Macau Special Administrative Region, microfilm reading, electronic news, databases, and much more.
The Macao Central Library has also improved its interiors to be more comfortable and spacious, regularly adding more furniture and amenities. The current site is around 1,371 square meters and can accommodate almost 280 people.
There are over 97,000 volumes to explore, 670 rolls of film, and thousands of other reference and resource materials here. While most are about Macau, there is also Portuguese literature, and some discuss Portugal’s influence in the East.
Visiting the library is always a great way to soak up knowledge, and this library is no different. Though the interiors have limited space, there is always enough for people to sit around, relax, and read quietly. Students are usually found here studying and reading, especially around exams week. Still, travellers, especially those keen to learn about history, will find tremendous value in learning here.
Don’t forget to spend some time at the Macao Central Library during your travels.
