The Macao Museum of Art is the only museum in the country fully dedicated to the visual arts.

Since 1999, it has been the premier venue for exhibitions and displays. There is a total of 5 exhibit rooms plus two display areas. The first and ground floors are where you can find various exhibit areas, on the third floor are local art works and early paintings of Macau by Chinese as well as European painters plus a space for temporary exhibits, and on the fourth floor are the China ceramics displays, calligraphy rooms, and Chinese paintings.

The first floor also houses an auditorium, accommodating over 100 people. It’s designed for seminars that require video projections since the public can hire it occasionally. In addition, the Macao Museum of Art has an in-house library filled with fascinating art books. The public can come in to use their facilities and even the internet service for no charge. If you want to learn more about art, there are more than 400 international and local films to watch in the visual room.

Meanwhile, the ground floor has a workshop where art courses occur regularly.

Since this museum is home to the biggest collection of arts and cultural relics, a visit here is highly recommended. It’s open daily except Mondays from 10am to 7pm, with the last admission allowed at 6:30pm.
