Rua da Felicidade is a famous street in Macau.
Also known as the Street of Happiness, it’s named so because, historically speaking, it had a seedy past since it was home to the main red-light district of Macau, where gambling, drug use, drinking, and prostitution were abundant.

Rua da Felicidade is a special heritage spot in Macau. In fact, the streetscapes were even featured in the Hollywood movies Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. As you stroll along, try to sample their famously delicious noodles, Portuguese snacks and food, and peanut candy.
You can also find the oldest guesthouse in Macau here, known as the SanVa Hotel. Locals still run it and provide budget travellers with great affordable accommodation with simple rooms and amenities in the middle of a heritage location.
If you want to take photos in this lovely street, drop by before 10am, when the shops open. You’ll be able to appreciate the beauty of the quiet street before it becomes a flurry of activity.
Afterwards, you can visit another famous landmark in Macau, Senado Square, just a few minutes away. This iconic heritage site is part of the World Heritage Sites and a must-visit for tourists to experience the elegant European-style buildings.
