These artefacts are taken from various historical periods, ranging from the 17th through the 19th century. There are many pieces to discover, including many different religious statues made in ivory, wood, and other materials, sacramental Mass objects, oil paintings, liturgical vestments, and much more. One of the many important pieces here is the 17th-century painting of St. Augustine. Two 19th-century church bells are also notable.

The St. Dominic’s Church Museum – Treasure of Sacred Art can be found in the bell tower of St. Dominic’s Church. The museum was established in 1997 thanks to the church restoration mandated by the Cultural Affairs Bureau. Entrance is free of charge and worth visiting for the unique collection of valuable religious relics and artwork. This is also a wonderful place to learn about the mark the Jesuits left in the local culture.

While here, do spend some time in the majestic church as well. St. Dominic’s is an ancient Catholic church with a baroque design that is commonplace with 16th-century structures. Macanese and European influences are evident in the church design. This is among the 29 destinations in the Historic Centre of Macau and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Many points of interest surround it you can visit after; head over to Senado Square to explore more lovely historical attractions.

The St. Dominics Church Museum – Treasure of Sacred Art is a must-visit for anyone who wants to learn about sacred religious art.
