Three Lamp Roundabout

The Three Lamp Roundabout (Rotunda de Carlos da Maia) is a scenic circular plaza by Macau’s Parish of Santo Antonio.

Also referred to as the Rotunda de Carlos da Maia, this unique attraction is in a historical district that leads to five streets with more attractions to discover.

Before heading out, spend some time in this plaza to admire its special details. In the centre, the ground has been raised and features a three-light lamp post, where its other name comes from. Additionally, it has Portuguese cobblestone pavements with benches where locals and tourists like to sit down and rest after sightseeing. While here, you can enjoy a snack and drink before continuing with your day.

The Three Lamp Roundabout has become a significant landmark in this area, renowned for its Burmese immigrant community. The nearby streets are filled with vibrant activity at all hours because vendors sell wares and delicious street food that are worth trying, particularly those that sell Burmese food. There are also many lovely boutiques here, making it one of the best shopping areas in the country. The buildings are primarily residential, so it has that quaint neighbourhood vibe.

A few steps away, you can find the Zhulin Temple. This is a small Buddhist temple with a beautiful garden, which was built in 1991. Though it’s among the newer temples in town, it has many unique details that make it as attractive to visitors as the ancient temples here. It was constructed in honour of the Heavenly King of Medicine, Bhaisajyaguru, the Immortal Buddha Liang, and the Cundi bodhisattva. Inside, there is a large courtyard and several shrines.
