The lighthouse is a significant sight, standing 15 meters tall beside the Chapel of Our Lady of Guia. It was constructed in 1865, making it the oldest lighthouse in China. When the weather is clear, you can see the lighthouse as far as 20 kilometres away.

There are two scenic routes to get to the lighthouse; the first is to walk or hike up, as it gives you a chance to breathe clean air while seeing the sights. Alternatively, you could also take the cable car up if you want an easier time.

If you want to make the most out of exploring the Guia Lighthouse and its surroundings, it’s best to allocate around 2 or 3 hours. The lighthouse’s history spans some 400 years, and visitors will be delighted to explore the other historical attractions in the area.

Another notable sight here is the Guia Fortress, which was valuable during the colonial era because it was a place that enabled the military to defend and protect Macau from invasions. However, the lighthouse interiors can only be visited every May 20^th.

Aside from the lighthouse itself, the chapel is also worth seeing. Other sights in the vicinity include the military tunnels, which house some photographs and old military equipment, making it a must-see for history enthusiasts. You may also want to view the Guia Hill Air Raid Shelter, which is 52 meters long and houses a lift to the lighthouse, lounge, generators, oil storage and other equipment.
