The International Council of Museums founded International Museum Day in 1977 to create public awareness of museums while promoting the cultural development of these institutions. Macau’s unique cultural heritage is always showcased through various events and activities during the carnival. In addition, there are also raffles where participants can enter to win exciting games during draws that take place during the carnival. Tourists, as well as residents, are all invited because there is always something for all ages to enjoy.
The festival is one that both locals and the museums look forward to each year. After all, Macau is home to numerous museums. This is because the Macao SAR government has long been committed to upholding the quality of museums while developing many more. They play an integral role in sharing stories from Macau’s over 400-year-long history and cultural integration with the East.
The government believes museums are an important way to share knowledge and educate people about Macau’s cultural and historical heritage.
