Macau Museums, History, Art, Science, Kids, Ticket Fees & Passes

The Macao Museum should be your first stop; it located in the 17th century Fortaleza do Monte and spans three floors for an exhaustive history lesson. It has a permanent exhibit that showcases the fusion of Western and Eastern cultures and tells the story of how it played a role in China’s modern history.

Indulge in culture by visiting the Macao Museum of Art, the biggest local art gallery in the region. It houses both contemporary and historical artworks hailing from Southern China, as well as various parts of Macau. Be amazed at the collection of ceramics, and Chinese calligraphy, alongside Western photography and paintings.

When visiting Macau’s museums, don’t miss the Museum of Sacred Art and Crypt, a recent addition to St. Paul’s Cathedral. Here, you’ll find a great collection of objects taken from Macau’s Catholic history with a focus on silver liturgical objects, crucifixes, and many more. A major highlight here is the portrait of St. Michael.

The Tea Culture House is truly interesting within a neo-colonial structure. Inside, the displays tell you about tea drinking and its role in Chinese culture. You’ll also get to see some antique tea cups, pots, and artworks inspired by tea.

The Tap Seac Gallery is a unique structure, a baroque residence from the 1920s with Moorish influences. This is considered one of the finest contemporary art museums in the country.

Other top museums include the Museum of the Holy House of Mercy, Maritime Museum, and Sound of the Century.

Macau museums are a gateway to the past – don’t miss these incredible experiences.
